Solar cell maker Semprius has done it using a combination of lenses to intensify the light, and super sensitive solar panels. "Natural" doesnt equal "organic"
For all of us truly working in, living and promoting organics, greenwashing can be annoying. Terms like "natural" and "sustaibable" might be marketed to mean the same thing as "organic," but they are not. This leaves the underinformed consumer confused over price disparities and value. To set the record straight, anything officially labeled "organic" has to adhere to certain US or international standards, which insures an inherent value. Maya Rodale discusses this in her blog post, and her conclusion is right. We need to continue to educate the public about what organic means and build more support around one, fully-understood term. Silk From 1 Million Spiders Made this Gorgeous Cape
Two men, Simon Peers, a textile designer and researcher and Nicholas Godley, an entrepreneur, took on a project to create artistic textiles made out of spider silk. Living in Madagascar, they worked with a silk factory to collect, spin and weave the fiber. Their work spanned over eight years and culminated in a magnificent shawl and extravagant cape, now on display at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. Read more...

Four European countries have begun banning these poisons, and some bee populations are recovering. But chemical companies are lobbying hard to keep all killer pesticides on the market. A global outcry now for a ban in the US and EU, where debate is raging, could provoke a total ban and a ripple effect around the world.
